Medication Recall: GSK Malaysia recalls one batch of Zyrtec-D tablets

Medication recall is a process to ensure the safety and the health of the public. Malaysia today is again shocked by another case of medication recall after the recent recall of pholcodine containing products.
We hope to help you understand this recall which involves one specific batch of Zyrtec-D.
Zyrtec-D (120mg/5mg Tablets x400) Allergy Relief and Nasal Decongestant Tablets contain cetirizine and pseudoephedrine.
Do Zyrtec-D tablets pose health risks to us?
Not really. There is no health hazard on the use of cetirizine and pseudoephedrine for the general population without existing medical conditions or without special health status such as pregnancy or lactation.
Why is Zyrtec-D recalled?
This has nothing to do with the medication itself. This is a precautionary measure after some units were found to have blisters that were incorrectly sealed. So this is a problem of the packaging and not a problem of the active ingredient.
Are all Zyrtec-D affected?
No. This recall only involves one specific batch. First, check the back of the blister to identify the batch number and the expiry date of your Zyrtec-D. The batch that is involved:
Batch Number: 321907
Expiry Date: January 2025
Only this batch of Zyrtec-D was found to have such a concern. At the moment, other batches of Zyrtec-D do not share the problem.
I am using Zyrtec for my allergy. What should I do?
You have nothing to worry about. This recall only involves a specific batch of Zyrtec-D. Zyrtec and Zyrtec-D are different products.
I have been taking Zyrtec-D tablets for a few days and I have half a strip left. What should I do?
Do not throw medications through normal channels, as this will pollute the environment. Return your unwanted medicines to CARiNG Pharmacy near you. CARiNG Pharmacy can help you to safely dispose of your unwanted medicines.
If you have any questions about the recall, visit any CARiNG Pharmacy to learn more! CARiNG Pharmacists are always ready to help you.
