SIMPLYING THE B COMPLEX

INTRODUCTION

B complex supplements are usually marketed as energy boosters. Apart from energy boosting abilities, B complex have also various other functions. Ever wondered what are the other functions of each vitamin B?

MORE THAN JUST BOOSTING ENERGY:

B1 (Thiamin) is needed for growth and development of the heart, nervous system and digestive system.
B2 (Riboflavin) is needed in growth of cells and tissues. It also acts as an antioxidant and able to reduce DNA damage.
B3 (Niacin) is essential in cell signaling in the body. B3 also helps in production of hormones.
B5 (Pantothenic Acid) enables the production of red blood cells, sex hormones and stress hormones. It is important in maintaining a healthy digestive tract. B5 is also known to aid in wound healing after surgery.
B6 (Pyridoxine) is involved in the production of amino acids and hormones. It also regulates the action of sex hormones and stress hormones.
B7 (Biotin) promotes bone, nail and hair health.
B9 (Folate) is vital in production of red blood cells. It maintains the DNA, therefore prevents birth defects. It may also help in fertility treatment.
B12 (Cobalamin) is required in red blood cell formation. It also helps maintain a healthy nervous system.
